To understand the meaning of non-verbal communication in interpersonal and self-management skills and to consider situations when non verbal communication is commonly used

How to carry out this lesson at home:

Step 1 – Student is to answer the following question: What do you understand by the term non-verbal communication?

Step 2 – Student to watch the featured video: Non verbal Communication

Nonverbal communication refers to gestures, facial expressions, eye contact (or lack of), body language, posture, and other ways people can communicate without using language.

Step 3 – After watching the video  student is to reflect on and answer the question asked in the video: How many everyday instances can you think of where you communicate non verbally ?

Step 4 – Student is to use the Body Language Cards resource , cut the squares and at the back of each corresponding emotion draw/find picture of the emotion. This can be used as a game with siblings or even online with friends.

Step 5 – Student is to work the Non-verbal Communication worksheet resource and the Everyday Speech worksheet resource related to non verbal communication.
