How to carry out this lesson at home:

Step 1: Think about ‘What kind of things tend to divide us in school?’ (For example, having different hobbies, different tastes, where we live, etc.)
Now think about ‘What are those things that we find in common (similar to each other)?’ (For example, in the same Year 5 class, same teacher, same textbooks, play during breaktime, etc.)
Notice that while some things may divide us, other things can unite us — even simple things as having the same preference for chocolate ice cream!

Step 2: Watch the first two minutes of the video called ‘Human’.
In what ways were these people different? Write down your answers on Activity Sheet 1.
Watch the same part of the video again. What do you think do they have which is similar? Again, write down your answers on Activity Sheet 1.

Step 3: Read the Note on Activity Sheet 1

Step 4: Open Sameness and Difference photos of works. These are some good answers of students’ past work. Check if you have written any of these on your Activity Sheet 1.
